General Rules
Conduct
All creators of bots (‘authors’) are asked to behave in a respectable manner towards each other as well as Tournament Officials. Insults, vulgarity, and harassment of any kind are strictly prohibited and will result in expulsions from the competitions and/or future competitions.
Unfair Play
Unfair play is strictly prohibited and will be penalized. The Tournament Director reserves the right to determine what constitutes unfair play, but the following are provided as examples for clarity:
- Use of External Programs: Utilizing any software or program that provides an unfair advantage in the game.
- Exploiting Game Bugs: Deliberate use of any in-game bug to gain an unfair advantage.
- Plagiarism: Copying code or strategies from other bots without permission.
- Collusion: Collaborating with another author to manipulate the outcome of a match.
- Intentional Losing: Deliberately losing a match for any reason.
- Disruptive Behavior: Engaging in conduct that is considered unsportsmanlike or disruptive, including but not limited to, harassment, use of profanity, or disrespect towards other authors or Tournament Officials.
Consequences for unfair play may include, but are not limited to:
- A formal warning
- Forfeiture of a match
- Disqualification from the current and/or future ProBots tournaments
- Deduction of prize money, the percentage of which will be determined at the sole discretion of the Tournament Director
The Tournament Director may update this list of unfair play examples and consequences as the competition progresses.
